Before his deployment to Iraq, Dorrian served as director of public affairs for Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado. He served as a public affairs officer at the wing, numbered air force, major command, Headquarters Air Force and combatant command levels. In addition, he commanded the 305th Mission Support Squadron, McGuire Air Force Base, New Jersey, and deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan, as chief of press desk operations for the International Security Assistance Force.

Dorrian holds a master’s degree in public administration from Troy State University and a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from The Citadel. His Air Force service awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
