Dr. J. Goosby Smith
Dr. J. Goosby Smith is an Associate Professor of Leadership, Associate Professor of Management, Assistant Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and Director of the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation Center (TRHT) at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. She currently serves in her second year as an Honorary Commander at Joint Base Charleston, assigned time Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic. She serves on the boards of The Sophia Institute’s Social Justice Racial Equity Collaborative, The Charleston Interreligious Council, and The Children’s Trust South Carolina. Smith holds a Ph.D. and M.B.A. in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management and a B.S. in Computer Science from Spelman College. Her teaching, research, service, and practice center upon intersections of diversity, inclusion, and spirituality applies to higher education, military, corporate, and faith-based spaces. Smith is co-author of Beyond Inclusion (2014, Palgrave Macmillan), co-editor of Blessed are Those Who Ask the Questions (forthcoming, Information Age Publishing), and several journal articles. She is a member of the Academy of Management, The PhD Project, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., American Mensa, and Greater St. Luke AME Church where she has held a variety of elected and appointed leadership positions. |
