From a seated position, cadet will climb to the top of rope located on Court D in Deas Hall and touch wooden top in 12 seconds or less without the use of legs.
Muscular Strength and Endurance.
Start from a seated position with the legs extended. Pull as fast as possible to get to the top, taking short, quick reaches. Feet may not touch the ground on the ascent; legs or feet may not touch rope on ascent.
How to Improve
Work on improving your upper body pulling strength via exercises such as pull-ups, chin-ups and lat pull downs. Speed is also very important. Climb as fast as possible for as long of a distance as possible.
Safety, Facilities and Equipment
Only use the 20’ ropes that are assembled in Deas Hall. Always have a spotter. On the descent, use your legs and a hand-over-hand technique.
