Commencement taking place May 3 and 4

The Citadel will hold commencement exercises this weekend in McAlister Field House.

Commencement Week activities get under way on campus on Thursday, May 1 and continue through Sunday. Among the events planned are the Star of the West drill competition, awards convocation, baccalaureate service, military commissioning ceremonies and the Long Gray Line graduation parade in honor of the Class of 2008.

The South Carolina Corps of Cadets commencement begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 3. More than 400 cadets are expected to receive degrees. U.S. Sen. Lindsay Graham will deliver the commencement address. The Corps of Cadets commencement will be webcast beginning at 9:30 a.m. To access the live webcast, go to The Citadel homepage at

At 2 p.m. Sunday, May 4, The Citadel Graduate College will hold its commencement. The graduate school expects to confer 250 degrees to graduate students and evening undergraduate students. College of Charleston President George Benson is the commencement speaker.
