Procedures for cameras and videographers
Welcome to The Citadel. We are delighted that you will join us for the commencement ceremony for the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.
We understand that you are probably attending because of your interest in our speaker, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Furthermore we are sure you understand that this event is primarily for the 400-plus members of the Class of 2007 and their families.
We have arranged for a pool video camera and pool photographer whose work will be available for your use. In addition, you are welcome to use any photographs taken by our college photographer, Russ Pace. His photographs will be available for download from our website. There will be a video feed available to cameras from the pool camera on the floor.
In order to accommodate your needs for good photography and minimize any distractions for our cadets and their families, we ask that you honor the following guidelines.
- TV and print photographers will remain in the designated media area during the processional, the presentation of awards and honorary degrees and the awarding of diplomas to the Corps of Cadets and the active duty graduates.
- Print photographers will be able to go onto the floor during the first 3-5 minutes of Mayor Giuliani’s address but must be escorted by one of our cadets or active duty students. We want to avoid the impression that anyone in the audience would be free to walk around and take photographs.
- Print and video photographers may also move onto the floor at the very end of the ceremony in order to get into position for to photograph the hat toss.
If you would like to see pictures of last year’s graduation, you can check our Russ Pace’s pictures on our photography web site at this link.
Please let us know if we may further assist you.
