In support of its mission to educate and prepare graduates to become principled leaders, The Citadel offers rigorous academic programs through its fourteen academic departments that are organized into five schools. Ninety-four percent of Citadel full-time faculty members hold a doctorate or terminal degree while small class sizes facilitate interaction between faculty and students both inside and outside the classroom. Special programs including the Honors Program, Study Abroad, Internships and Independent Study offer unique opportunities to enrich the academic experience.
Small classes, challenging faculty, and a wide array of educational support services provide a foundation that encourages students to fulfill their highest academic potential.
For a detailed schedule of the curriculum required for each major and minor, please consult the Corps of Cadets course catalog, and remember that the catalog bearing the number of the academic year in which cadets enter The Citadel will be their catalog of record for matters of academic policy.
When a cadet is readmitted after an absence of at least three academic semesters (summer sessions will not be considered as semesters for this purpose), the catalog bearing the number of the academic year in which the student is readmitted will be the catalog of record for matters of academic policy and graduation requirements.
For more information about joining the Corps of Cadets, please consult the requirements for incoming freshmen and transfer students on the Admissions webpage.
