Dr. George McIntosh is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at The Citadel, where he contributes to the preparation of future school psychologists. He brings extensive experience in school psychology and special education leadership, having served as a School Psychologist, Lead School Psychologist, and Director of Special Education in public school settings. His professional work has focused on improving student outcomes through data-based decision making, systems-level leadership, and evidence-based practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dr. McIntosh holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of South Carolina, an M.A. in Psychology and an Ed.S. in School Psychology from The Citadel Graduate College, an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina, and an Ed.D. in School Psychology from Loyola University Chicago, where he specialized in district administration and Director of Special Education preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is certified as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), Licensed Psycho-Educational Specialist (LPES), School Psychologist III, and Elementary Principal. His professional interests include special education leadership, school mental health, trauma-informed practices, specific learning disabilities (SLD), rural school psychology, and evidence-based multitiered systems of support (MTSS). He has experience supervising school psychology practicum students, interns, and candidates pursuing LPES licensure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to his faculty appointment at The Citadel, Dr. McIntosh has several years of experience teaching at a historically Black technical college in South Carolina. He is actively involved in the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the South Carolina Association of School Psychologists (SCASP), and the American Psychological Association’s Division 16 (School Psychology).
