Procedures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-submitting-an-irb-in-the-department-of-psychology\">Submitting an IRB in the Department of Psychology<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Whether you are a graduate student or a cadet who is about to begin a research project involving human participants, you will need to receive IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval before proceeding with the collection of data.&nbsp; In general, the process should begin with a discussion between the student and the faculty advisor.&nbsp; The IRB form and other IRB-related information appear below.&nbsp; For any proposal originating in the Department of Psychology, the completed IRB form should be submitted to Dr. Mike Politano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Research Involving Human Participants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Citadel&#8217;s Institutional Review Board is responsible for insuring the protection of human research participants in accordance with the ethical principles presented in the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/ohrp\/humansubjects\/guidance\/belmont.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Belmont Report<\/a><\/strong> and as mandated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/ohrp\/humansubjects\/guidance\/45cfr46.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">federal law<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Policy, procedural, and other information can be found in the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.citadel.edu\/root\/images\/Psychology\/irb%20guidelines%2004-10.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRB Guidelines <\/a><\/strong>(This document contains the instructions for how to submit an IRB proposal)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.citadel.edu\/root\/images\/Psychology\/irb%20form.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IRB submission form<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/web.citadel.edu\/root\/images\/Psychology\/citadel%20irb%20committee%20members%20-%202017-18.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2017-18 IRB committee members<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Submitting an IRB in the Department of Psychology Whether you are a graduate student or a cadet who is about to begin a research project involving human participants, you will need to receive IRB (Institutional Review Board) approval before proceeding with the collection of data.&nbsp;
