Ukrainian exchange students return home<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Four Ukrainian citizens are back home after spending the spring 2024 semester as exchange students at The Citadel through the Global Undergraduate Exchange (UGRAD) Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first time The Citadel has partnered with\u00a0the UGRAD Program<\/a>, which provides one-semester scholarships to undergraduate students from around the world for non-degree, full-time study combined with community service, professional development and cultural enrichment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The UGRAD Program is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State\u2019s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, funded by the American people through an appropriation from Congress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Led by Citadel President Gen. Glenn Walters, USMC (Ret.), \u201979, and Provost Sally Selden, Ph.D., SPHR, The Citadel applied to be a host institution to expand\u00a0the college\u2019s early support for Ukrainian citizens<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With help from The Citadel\u2019s\u00a0Center for International and Special Programs<\/a>, the four Ukrainian students spent the spring immersed in American university life and learning more about the local community.\u00a0The four Ukrainians are only the first to attend The Citadel through the UGRAD program. Three more have already been accepted and will attend during the spring 2025 semester.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before returning to Ukraine, The Citadel\u2019s first four UGRAD students reminisced on their lifestyle, academics and time spent in Charleston.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
