Food pantry to support veteran and active-duty students<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Veteran Student Success Center has partnered with Lowcountry Food Bank to create a food pantry on campus to support veteran and active-duty students. The effort was made possible by former Board of Visitor Chair Leonard Fulghum, \u201951<\/a>, whose generous donation covered the cost for an industrial-sized freezer and refrigerator, as well as a residential refrigerator and pantry unit. The project is being assisted by Chaplin Aaron Meadows<\/a>, the public safety staff and Cadet Chayse Anthony.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a survey conducted by the Veteran Student Success Center of veteran and active-duty students, 50% of participants indicated that they are parents or caregivers and 32% indicated they are facing financial hardship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the support of Lowcountry Food Bank, the Veteran Student Success Center has provided veteran and active-duty students with more than 700 pounds of fresh meat, produce, canned goods and baking items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
