Academic Excellence Day Celebrates Student Scholarship, Creativity and Mentorship<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Academic Excellence Day, held April 10 in Deas Hall, highlighted the breadth of undergraduate scholarship at The Citadel. More than 200 student researchers and co-authors presented 109 research posters and 14 fine arts works across a wide range of disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event provided a forum for students to share original research, creative projects, and scholarly inquiry with faculty, staff, and peers. Projects reflected both disciplinary depth and a growing emphasis on addressing complex, real-world challenges through innovative approaches. Through this work, students develop transferable skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical reasoning, that prepare them for a range of career paths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A defining feature of Academic Excellence Day is its strong culture of mentorship. Faculty guidance was evident in every presentation, underscoring a sustained commitment to cultivating excellence inside and beyond the classroom. Faculty also served as judges, providing feedback and recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event continues to encourage broader participation in undergraduate research and creative activity. First- and second-year students engaged with upper-level presenters, gaining insight into the research process and envisioning their own future contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Academic Excellence Day remains a cornerstone of The Citadel\u2019s commitment to high-impact practices and demonstrates the impact of experiential learning on its students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
