March New Faculty Spotlight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Samantha Williams<\/a> joins the Swain Department of Nursing as lead instructor for maternal and newborn nursing. Williams grew up in Manchester, New Hampshire, before moving to Charleston in 2019. She worked as a registered nurse for 12 years, the last six as a nurse practitioner in labor and delivery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2024, Williams began her teaching career in the Swain Department of Nursing as an adjunct clinical instructor. She loved it and, when a full-time role opened, jumped at the opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe part of teaching I\u2019ve loved the most,\u201d Williams said, \u201cis seeing a student experience a new nursing skill. I\u2019ve loved watching a student come out of a patient room excited that they finally performed a skill they\u2019d only practiced in lab or simulation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside the classroom, Williams has a five-year plan that includes visiting Greece, where she hopes to immerse herself in another culture.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
