January New Faculty Spotlight<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before joining The Citadel, Lindsay Harman, Ph.D.<\/a>, worked at the University of Denver as a counselor educator. She has 14 years of experience as a school counselor in a range of pre-K-12 public schools, with a specialty in comprehensive school counseling programming and school counselor supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was in her role as a site supervisor for school counseling interns that she discovered how much she enjoyed mentoring emerging counselors and became interested in pursuing a doctorate in counselor education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Citadel was a natural next step in her career. \u201cI have always been impressed with the school counselors I meet who are alumni of The Citadel\u2019s Counselor Education program,\u201d she said. \u201cMany are great leaders in South Carolina school districts.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Originally from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Harman has a deep love for the outdoors. \u201cWhen I am not wrangling my three children,\u201d she said, \u201cI enjoy walks with my dog, a good book and travel.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI began teaching,\u201d said Andrew Booth, Ph.D.<\/a>, \u201cbecause I believe in the importance of thinking, talking and writing about ideas together with other people. As a teacher of rhetoric and writing, my teaching emphasizes civic and community engagement, encouraging students to participate in ongoing public conversations while developing practical rhetorical and compositional skills.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Booth comes to The Citadel from the University of Texas at Austin. His research interests include rhetorical theory, political theory and aesthetics. \u201cI was most drawn to The Citadel\u2019s emphasis on civic service and engagement and the opportunity to teach students interested in pursuing careers in public service,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside the classroom, Booth is often found on a trail, either running or backpacking.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
