STEM in Action<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
June was a busy month in the STEM Center. Computer Science Professional Development Week was hosted in partnership with the national Computer Science Teachers Association, the South Carolina CSTA chapter, and the South Carolina Department of Education’s Career and Technical Education program. K-12 teachers from across the state gained valuable computer science training to use in their classrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences, part of the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics, also sponsored a cybersecurity workshop as part of the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Located in the Zucker Family School of Education, the STEM Center continues to make a statewide impact on young learners. This year\u2019s STEAM Camp welcomed 63 students in grades 5\u20138 from 35 schools and homeschools. The Fine Arts program in The Citadel\u2019s School of Humanities and Social Sciences, along with volunteers from the Krause Center, served as company commanders and teaching assistants, engaging campers in fun and meaningful STEAM learning experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
