STEM Center hosts active learning experience<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The STEM Center hosted 4th and 5th graders from Richland County School District Two’s gifted and talented program, Active Learning Experiences in Resourceful Thinking (ALERT), for a day of STEM experiences. ALERT has been a biannual tradition for over 10 years. This year the STEM Center had eight days scheduled with approximately 80 students visiting each day for a total of over 600 students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the day, students rotated among four different experiences that are hosted by students and faculty from the Zucker Family School of Education, the School of Engineering, the Swain Family School of Science and Mathematics and the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. This cross-campus collaboration provided students with an interdisciplinary, hands-on understanding of STEM while introducing them to college life. The event facilitates learning and allows students and faculty to make connections with students and teachers in South Carolina schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
