Alumnus honors former teacher with $2 million gift<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A transformational gift made by a grateful alumnus to name the Angela W. Williams Student Success Center on campus will ensure cadets and students continue to have a space to support and guide their academic success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This $2 million dollar investment was made by Peter L. Lacy, Class of 1992, and his wife, Jill, to establish the Lacy Fund for the Student Success Center. This gift provides financial resources to support and endow the operations of\u00a0The Citadel\u2019s Student Success Center<\/a> as well as unrestricted support for the college\u2019s greatest needs through The Citadel Fund. The gift names the Student Success Center in honor of Angela W. Williams, former director of The Citadel\u2019s Writing Center and Lacy\u2019s English teacher who provided guidance that lasted well beyond his time on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Student Success Center has been an educational cornerstone since its inception in the fall of 1984, when it began as the Writing Center offering cadets tutorials and guidance to improve their writing skills. Today, it offers a wide range of educational resources involving learning strategies across the entire college, including tutors in many subject areas with a writing-across-the-curriculum mindset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
