The Political Science, B.A. Degree Completion Program<\/strong>, with a focus on Pre-Law and Legal Studies, was established in 2014 to offer students the opportunity to earn a four-year degree from The Citadel. First founded in 1941, the Political Science program has since graduated thousands of students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Political Science degree completion consists of 65 hours of general education courses<\/strong> at a technical college plus 52 credit hours of upper division courses<\/strong> at The Citadel. If you have credits from another institution, they will be evaluated according to The Citadel policy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Department<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As one of The Citadel\u2019s largest and fastest-growing departments, the Department of Political Science (PSCI) serves over 140 undergraduate students and 23 graduate students. The department is staffed by seven full-time faculty members, a visiting professor, two staff members, and proudly hosts The Citadel\u2019s West Chair Professor. It is the third-largest major on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Political Science major offers a comprehensive liberal arts education, preparing students for engaged citizenship while enhancing critical-thinking, reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. The program provides an excellent foundation for graduate education and careers in various fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Political Science as a Career<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Graduates with a degree in Political Science find opportunities in many fields, including graduate school, law school, the U.S. Foreign Service, government positions at all levels, trade associations, campaign management, political consulting, journalism, and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
