Patrick R. Briggs was born in Sacramento CA, and he attended CSU \u2013 Sacramento, receiving a B.A. in Physics. Long interested in Astronomy, he entered the Space Physics program at the University of Kansas under the direction of Thomas Armstrong. There he worked on data analysis with the IMP 7 and 8 spacecraft, and helped to calibrate the LECP detector that still operates on the Voyager spacecraft. He received his Ph. D. in Physics (Space Physics).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
An enduring love of teaching led him to The Citadel in 1981. He has enjoyed working with cadets and trying out new ideas in the classroom and the lab. After a long pause he is resuming research on particle composition in the solar wind, and he encourages students\u2019 pursuit of knowledge as instructor of the Senior Research courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
