Events take place on the campus of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a learn-by-doing physics and aerospace experience<\/strong> where high-school students build, test, and improve real devices<\/strong> in Citadel teaching and research labs<\/strong>. Physics ideas are learned through experimentation and design challenges\u2014not simply lectures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students work side-by-side with Citadel physics faculty and current cadets<\/strong>, gaining a preview of what it\u2019s like to study physics at The Citadel while tackling hands-on problems that bring science to life. Projects are designed to connect hands-on work to the underlying physics ideas, with students discussing why<\/em> systems behave the way they do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Designing and testing<\/strong> your own airfoil in our wind tunnel<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Building <\/strong>your own ultrasonic levitation device<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Exploring<\/strong> the physics of string shooters<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Learn<\/strong> about the physics of flight by flying in our flight simulator<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Building and troubleshooting<\/strong> a biologically inspired light-seeking robot<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • \u2026and more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Who can attend:<\/strong> High-school sophomores, juniors, and seniors<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    No prior experience is required \u2014 projects are designed so students learn by doing from the start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
