Below are academic, appeals, course load, study abroad, and transfer policies and standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students must maintain high academic standards while in the MBA program. Student who\u00a0earn an “F” or more than\u00a0two “C’s” (including C+) are dismissed from the program for academic insufficiency. Students must also maintain a 3.0 or higher GPA. A student whos GPA falls below the required 3.0 minimum can increase his\/her GPA within nine credit hours. The student will be dismissed from the MBA program for academic insufficiency if the GPA is not raised within nine credit hours. Note: An incomplete “I” is converted to an “F” if the work is not completed within the established college guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students can appeal the action to the School of Business if they believe there are circumstances surrounding their academic status which make a dismissal action unfair or inappropriate. All appeals should be made in writing and addressed to the MBA Program Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students are limited to register for nine credit hours in the Fall and Spring semesters. Students may send a request in writing to the MBA Director to take twelve credit hours in Fall and\/or Spring semesters. Summer terms are restricted to six credit hours per term. Students admitted as non-degree seeking may be permitted to take up to 6.0 credit hours of coursework at The Citadel. Non-degree seeking students interested in taking courses required for the MBA program must request permission for enrollment from the MBA Program Director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The degree of Master of Business Administration may be conferred upon those students who successfully complete the 36 hours of graduate course work as specified above. Students grade-point ratio (GPR) must be 3.0 or better on hours earned at The Citadel. Completion of more than 36 credit hours of advanced graduate coursework will only be allowed (for exceptional circumstances) with the approval of the MBA Program Director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students who participate in study abroad programs may take 100% of their elective courses for such academic work. The School of Business offers one MBA course with a study abroad component. The Cuban Economy is taught by Dr. Trumbull each Spring semester. The course is taught online and students will travel to Cuba for the week of Spring Break. Additionally, The Citadel has a partnership with the Cooperative Center for Study Abroad (CCSA)<\/a> and will accept study abroad courses completed with CCSA. For more information about study abroad opportunities with CCSA, contact the Office of Study Abroad<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A maximum of six graduate credit hours from an AACSB accredited institution can be approved for transfer credit.\u00a0For approval: (1) those courses are determined equivalent to one of the advanced or elective courses at The Citadel, (2) grades of “B” or better were received in the courses, and (3) credit for the courses was earned within the five years prior to admission into The Citadel MBA program. The capstone course, BADM 740 Global Business Strategy, may not be approved for transfer credit unless there is an extenuating circumstance.
