Math Research Experience for Lowcountry \u200bHigh School Students and Teachers<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

High school students get to see mathematics outside the classroom and beyond the standard curriculum.  High school teachers get to mentor students in a different setting. Participants have the opportunity to attend the South Carolina Junior Academy of Science annual meeting in the Spring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This week-long, non-residential camp brings together Low-country high school students (rising freshmen to rising seniors) and teachers to solve open math problems with Citadel faculty.  Participants learn about the research process from start to finish.  Open problems are found in Mathematical Association of America (MAA) publications and The Fibonacci Quarterly.<\/em> Participants from the 2022 camp submitted three problem solutions. Participants from the 2023 camp submitted three problem solutions. Participants from the 2024 camp submitted two problem solutions. Participants from the 2025 camp submitted five problem solutions. Correct solutions were acknowledged in the respective journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
