The new Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics<\/strong> at The Citadel offers a flexible, well-rounded curriculum designed to support double majors and minors in complementary fields. With options in pure mathematics, applied mathematics, data analytics and statistics, the program emphasizes critical thinking and problem-solving\u2014preparing students for a wide range of careers or graduate study.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Structure of the Major<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The required courses include one computer science course (CSCI 201 or CSCI 205) and the following thirty-four semester hours of core courses: MATH 121, 131, 132, 206, 231, 234, 240, 470, 495 and STAT 261. In addition, the student must select 9 hours of Approved Electives from among the mathematics and statistics courses numbered at the 300 or 400 level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
