Robert Howard, J.D., is a South Carolina attorney and retired U.S. Army Infantry Lieutenant Colonel whose more than 30 years of experience bring a distinctive blend of academic preparation, applied leadership, and public service to the college classroom. He earned his Juris Doctor from the Charleston School of Law in 2025 and holds a Bachelor of Science in International Relations from the University of Central Florida. His academic and professional interests include constitutional law, public policy, national security, leadership, strategic planning, and international affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Robert began his Army career in 1989 as an enlisted Soldier and paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, serving in Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Commissioned as an officer through ROTC in 1998, he went on to serve multiple combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan during the Global War on Terror before retiring in 2021. His assignments included both senior staff and command positions in U.S. Army Central, 3rd Infantry Division, 82nd Airborne Division, and as a military combat advisor in Afghanistan. Across strategic, operational, and tactical settings, he led diverse organizations, developed training and readiness programs, coordinated multinational efforts, and advised senior leaders in high-stakes environments. His practical experience in leadership, policy interpretation, legal analysis, professional writing, risk management, and instructional development enables him to create an engaging, rigorous learning environment in which students can apply theory to real-world problems and develop the analytical, communication, and decision-making skills essential for success in business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
