Major in Intelligence and Security Studies (ISS)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Intelligence and Security Studies (ISS)<\/strong> is designed to meet the national security and intelligence needs of military, federal, state, and local governmental agencies, private corporations engaged in intelligence and security fields, and others who are interested in gaining greater knowledge about the field of intelligence and security studies. The BA consists of 15 courses (45 credit hours) offered by various academic units at The Citadel. In order to provide students with a broad-based liberal arts education, the major is highly interdisciplinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This major seeks to develop each student\u2019s capabilities for critical thinking and systematic analysis and is designed to increase the student\u2019s knowledge of effective leadership for national security. Each student completes a required core curriculum consisting of the following courses: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

INTL 201 Introduction to Intelligence Studies (3 credits)
INTL 210 Homeland Security (3 credits)
INTL 301 Advanced Analytics 1 (3 credits; Prerequisite for INTL 403)
INTL 310 Intelligence Collection Systems and Programs (3 credits)
INTL 401 Intelligence Support to Military Operations (3 credits) INTL 403 Intelligence Capstone (3 credits) CSCI 227 Introduction to Cybersecurity (3 credits)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, students must complete one of the following concentration areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. General Intelligence<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Military Intelligence<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Chinese Area Studies<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Counterterrorism<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Business Intelligence<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The BA in Intelligence and Security Studies is certified by the International Association for Intelligence Education (IAFIE).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
