Dr. Kerry Taylor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Associate Professor and Director of the Charleston Oral History Program<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A specialist in twentieth-century US, labor, African American, and oral history, Dr. Taylor came to the Citadel after serving as the Associate Director of the Southern Oral History Program<\/a> at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and teaching courses at Duke University and Mills College in Oakland, California. He is the author of Charleston and the Great Depression: A Documentary History, 1929-1941<\/em><\/a> (University of South Carolina Press, 2018). He co-edited volume 4<\/a> and volume 5<\/a> of the Papers of Martin Luther King, Jr.<\/em> (University of California Press, 2000 and 2005) and American Labor and the Cold War<\/em><\/a> (Rutgers University Press, 2004).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His current manuscript project is entitled Turn to the Working Class: The New Left, Civil Rights, and the American Labor Movement (1967-1981)<\/em>. Current oral history research projects explore Charleston\u2019s working class as an agent of change and document the history of Latinx communities<\/a> of the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
