{"id":90,"date":"2022-11-29T08:51:54","date_gmt":"2022-11-29T13:51:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/grants\/?page_id=90"},"modified":"2025-12-02T12:26:32","modified_gmt":"2025-12-02T17:26:32","slug":"faculty-summer-provost-research-grants-supr","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/grants\/faculty-summer-provost-research-grants-supr\/","title":{"rendered":"Provost-Funded Summer Faculty Artificial Intelligence Research Grant Program (Summer FAIR)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-overview\">Overview<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Faculty Summer Research Grants Committee invites eligible participants to submit a proposal to the Provost-Funded Summer Faculty Artificial Intelligence Research (Summer FAIR) Grant Program (formerly the Faculty Summer Provost Research Grant Program &#8211; SuPR). This competitive program seeks to support faculty scholarly activity and research in artificial intelligence (AI). The program encourages projects that deepen faculty expertise in AI and its related fields, foster interdisciplinary collaboration, and contribute new knowledge to the understanding, application, or advancement of AI technologies. Furthermore, the program serves to provide seed funding for faculty interested in developing AI-related scholarly activity<strong>. <\/strong>This program aims to cultivate faculty scholarship that supports AI innovation in teaching and pedagogy, national defense priorities, and responsible technological leadership<strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong>Grant funding up to $12,500 per award is available. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program operates according to the following guidelines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Funded projects may be conducted during the summer term or be extended throughout the academic year, depending on the scope of the project. All awarded funds must be expended by August 15, 2026. All projects, both summer-only and full academic year, should clearly identify expected milestones and success criteria in the application.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Grants can include expenses related to research-related travel but not allowable for travel associated with conference presentations. Up to $2,000 summer stipend may be requested as part of the grant application. If more than one faculty member is involved in the project, the $2,000 stipend will be split among faculty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If more than one person is involved in the research project, eligibility is tied to the principal investigator (PI) and s(he) will work with their department\u2019s administrative support and the Office of the Provost to manage the budget.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications submitted after the prescribed deadline will be deemed ineligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post-grant reports are required. Failure to provide a post-grant report by the established deadline may result in the loss of the grant and the return of previously disbursed funds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-eligibility\">Eligibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eligibility is limited to tenured and tenure-track faculty as well as department heads. Deans are not eligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Eligibility excludes faculty who participated in a sabbatical this year (AY2025-26) or would be receiving a sabbatical in the coming year (AY2026-27).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications that focus on faculty development, training, or other similar activities will not be considered. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-application-process-and-deadline\">Application Process and Deadline<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Application guidelines and review criteria can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/grants\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/112\/Summer-FAIR-Application-Information-AY2025-26-1.pdf\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline for submission is Thursday, January 29<sup>th<\/sup>, 2026 at 5pm<\/strong>.
