The Office of Research & Grants supports undergraduate students in their pursuit of scholarly activity. We coordinate cadet travel, Academic Excellence Day research presentations, The Citadel Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE), and poster presentation support. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
We also help undergraduate students engage in investigative inquiry, experimentation, and creative expression under faculty mentorship. Original scholarship that uses qualitative, quantitative, design, or creative approaches is encouraged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information for the AY2026-27 application cycle will be posted here when available.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This award recognizes outstanding undergraduate research mentoring by full-time Citadel faculty members and instructors. Recipients must demonstrate significant involvement with undergraduate researchers. They must also show a strong commitment to mentorship and student success.. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Nominees cannot apply directly for this award. Deans\/unit chairs\/department heads must submit nominations. Faculty members may also submit nominations through their dean, unit chair, or department head. Each department may submit one nominee per award cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The nomination period opens on 12 February 2026. All nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m., 16 March 2026 to Dr. John Weinstein, Assistant Provost for Research (weinsteinj@citadel.edu<\/a>). Students may submit research and scholarly inquiry projects as posters, or may submit creative works of art, including photographs, paintings, and drawings, as exhibits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Students should use the appropriate submission form for their project category. The program helps students deepen their understanding of their fields of study. The Summer 2026 program will take place in person and may continue through Fall 2026 with faculty and student agreement. SURE scholars will complete substantial, original research or creative projects. These projects will strengthen their preparation for graduate or professional school, competitive national scholarships and fellowships, and future career opportunities.
