Because World War II intervened, the first electrical engineering degrees were awarded to the class of 1948. Today, the <strong>Bachelor of Science in Engineering<\/strong> program is offered through two pathways. The traditional daytime pathway is available to members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets, veteran students and active-duty students. The evening degree completion pathway is designed for transfer students who wish to complete their undergraduate degree in a flexible, non-cadet format. The department also offers graduate programs, including the Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, which provides students with advanced engineering knowledge, cutting-edge technical training and professional development opportunities in the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Electrical and Computer Engineering department employs small classes and hands-on laboratories taught by full-time faculty to provide an environment highly conducive to both learning and to the development of close student-faculty relationships. As our department has evolved over the years, our goal is to provide students a rigorous curriculum containing theoretical and practical engineering concepts. Our engineering design is embedded throughout the curriculum to develop the student\u2019s ability to address practical engineering problems. Fully equipped laboratories, classrooms and faculty offices, housed mainly on the third floor of Grimsley Hall, serve the active research in electrical and computer engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I encourage you to explore the electrical and computer engineering department and our website about class choices, research opportunities and degree completion.
