Kristen Hefner is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at The Citadel. She earned a B.A. in psychology from North Carolina State University, an M.A. in sociology\/criminology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Delaware. Her primary research and teaching interests include victimology, violence against women and children, human trafficking, law &amp; society, and qualitative research. Dr. Hefner is the lead- or co-author on numerous peer-reviewed journal articles appearing in journals such as\u00a0<em>Justice Quarterly, Journal of Interpersonal Violence<\/em>,\u00a0<em>Journal of Applied Social Science<\/em>,<em> Security Studies,\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>Journal of Human Trafficking,<\/em> among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Degrees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ph.D.<\/strong> Sociology (University of Delaware)<br><strong>M.A.<\/strong> Sociology with concentration in Criminology (University of North Carolina at Greensboro)<br><strong>B.A.<\/strong> Psychology minor in Criminology (North Carolina State University)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-areas-of-research-interest\">Areas of Research Interest<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Victimology;&nbsp;violence against women\/children; human trafficking; law and society; gender\/social inequalities; qualitative methods<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Associate Professor Dr. M.
