This is accomplished by developing students\u2019 understanding of the causes of crime, which includes a grasp of the larger social context in which crime occurs, the operation and effectiveness of agencies within the criminal justice system, as well as developing students\u2019 analytical skills that enable them to conduct and evaluate criminal justice-related research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-expected-student-learning-outcomes\">Expected Student Learning Outcomes<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Upon completion of the program, students should generally possess:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An understanding of the theories relating to crime causation and criminality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An understanding of the interdisciplinary nature of the criminal justice system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Skills that enable the student to conduct and evaluate criminal justice-related research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Advanced reading, writing, and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An understanding of administrative principles and practices found in criminal justice agencies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>As The Military College of South Carolina,\u00a0The Citadel\u2019s mission is to educate and develop principled leaders and citizen-soldiers, prepared to serve their state and nation, and to lead with integrity by instilling the core values of Honor, Duty, and Respect in a disciplined and intellectually challenging environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mission of the Department of Criminal Justice The mission of the Criminal Justice program is to foster an intellectually stimulating educational experience that prepares students to work within the criminal justice system and its related fields, as well as laying the academic foundation for graduate study.
