No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.<\/em> -Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance. While, in the past, the emphasis in its enactment has been on girls’ and women’s access to athletics in education, Title IX reaches all parts of campus. Colleges and universities have a responsibility to address and prevent sexual harassment and violence in all its forms on their campuses. The Citadel is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, relationship (dating and domestic) violence, and stalking. The College provides resources and reporting options to students, faculty, and staff to address concerns related to sexual harassment and sexual violence prohibited by Title IX and College policy, and works to prevent its occurrence through training and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Retaliation against victims, complainants, witnesses, or accused persons in sexual discrimination, harassment, or violence cases is prohibited and is a serious violation, subject to discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have been discriminated against or experienced inequitable treatment on the basis of sex in any Citadel-sanctioned program, or if you have been victimized by, witnessed, or committed sexual harassment or violence on or off campus, you are strongly encouraged to report the matter.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may submit anonymous disclosures of sexual harassment or sexual misconduct to the Title IX Office. Using the below link that is managed by an independent, third-party organization, you can let us know of a concern and communicate with a member of the Title IX Office without revealing your identity or location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
