After graduating high school, Professor Hutton moved to South Carolina where he attended The Citadel as a cadet. During his time at The Citadel, he was awarded the Colonel Loring K. Himelright Merit Award and the Colonel Louis Shepard Letellier Award prior to graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2021. After graduating from The Citadel, Professor Hutton joined the Structural Engineering and Materials program at Virginia Tech to pursue his master&#8217;s degree. At Virginia Tech, Professor Hutton was a Via Scholar which provided him with a fully funded graduate research position. He led an American Concrete Institute (ACI) and industry co-funded research project focused on retrofitting shear deficient reinforced concrete building diaphragms with fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) laminates. Professor Hutton was also awarded the Robert F. Mast Memorial Fellowship from the ACI Foundation during his time as a graduate researcher. After completing his thesis, he graduated with his Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 2023. Professor Hutton then returned to Charleston, South Carolina to begin working full-time for McSweeney Engineers as a Structural Engineer and Engineer-Diver. After passing the NCEES PE Civil: Structural Exam in March 2024, he felt he had the opportunity to take on more responsibility, so he now teaches as an adjunct professor within the civil engineering department of his alma mater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-degrees\">Degrees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>M.S.
