Ghanat, P.E. is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Citadel. &nbsp;He received his Ph.D., M.S., and B.S. degrees in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Arizona State University. He previously taught at Bucknell University and Arizona State University. Dr. Ghanat is a licensed engineer in the State of South Carolina. He has developed and teaches graduate courses in geotechnical earthquake engineering, geo-environmental engineering, advanced soil mechanics, advanced foundations, and soil behavior. His research interests are in engineering education, seismic site response studies, engineering characteristics of strong ground motions, probabilistic seismic hazard analyses, and urban heat island.&nbsp;Dr. Ghanat has received several teaching, research, and service awards (Citadel, ASEE, ASEE-SE). He is also an instructor for the Federal Highway Administration\u2019s National Highway Institute where he has led multiple workshops on seismic design and analysis for a broad audience of State Department of Transportation engineers and industry leaders.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-degrees\">Degrees<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ph.D. Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering, Arizona State University, 2011<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>M.S.
