I am a SC Corps of Cadet\u2019s alumni (BSCE 2010), 11-year U.S. Army officer, and a 2018 Citadel MSCE graduate. Additionally, I was a full-time active-duty graduate student during my course work in the civil engineering department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The primary focus in The Citadel\u2019s School of Engineering is teaching, so the students come first. Academic standards are rigorous, student support is exceptional, and The Citadel\u2019s graduate program has a remarkable reputation within professional circles. Each graduate engineering course has clearly stated practically oriented learning objectives and achievable student performance expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faculty have highly respected credentials, professional engineering licensure, and real-world engineering experience, which were all important to me. I believe the program does a tremendous job preparing graduates for engineering licensure (FE, PE), engineering career advancement, and analytical skills needed to address America\u2019s infrastructure challenges. Dr. Mays was as personable as possible over virtual communication and that was greatly appreciated. Also, Dr. Mays respected students to be able to figure out how to pace themselves, get work done in a timely fashion, and generally to behave as responsible adults. This was an extremely useful course that I can put into practice in my daily work. There isn’t a building standing that doesn’t have a foundation of some kind, and a lot of buildings designed at my office use deep foundations.
