Bio
Dr. Giles is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at The Citadel. He received both a BS in Civil Engineering and a BA in History from Rice University before earning his MS and PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His technical research interests are in structural health monitoring, design optimization, seismic resistance of vernacular architecture, and historic structures. He is also interested in the history of engineering and integrating the liberal arts into engineering education. He served on the ASCE BOK3 Committee.
