Summer in Estonia (PSCI\/INTL)<\/summary>
\n

Citadel students can enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience and adventure in Estonia this summer. Given its strategic location on the northeast frontier of the European Union and NATO along the Russian border, its history as a former Soviet Republic, and its advanced security programs, Estonia is among the most exciting countries of Europe for the study of international relations, military affairs, and cyber security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll complete 2 courses (6 total hours) of undergraduate credit (or graduate level for MA students) that can be prefixed as PSCI and\/or INTL depending on your academic major and transcript needs. The program is hosted at Tallinn Technical University and includes tuition, housing, meals, in-country transportation, insurance, and excursions including a visit to the Russian border, a briefing at the NATO Center for Excellence in Cybersecurity, a rifle range to test fire WWII Soviet and modern Russian weapons, and a tour of a former KGB listening and intelligence gathering post (airfare is not included).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Health Care Study Abroad Program to Kenya <\/summary>
\n

Designed primarily for Pre-Health students, although open to all, this service-based program involves being a part of The Citadel Medical Camp, the largest free general medicine provider in Kenya. As part of The Citadel Medical Camp, students will spend 3 weeks in Nairobi (the capital of Kenya), serving impoverished populations in the major slum areas. Students will work alongside Kenyan and American clinicians in partnership with the non-profit organization United Cultural Empowerment and Social Community Organization (UCESCO).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will acquire over 150 clinical service hours through various medical rotations and 6 credit hours (EXSC 406, EXSC 421, HLED 411) depending on your transcript needs. The program includes tuition, housing, meals, insurance, and excursions including a trip to Mombasa and a safari to Masai Mara (airfare not included).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valencia is one of the largest cities in Spain and lies on the Mediterranean coastline. It is a modern metropolitan city that boasts cultural and medieval historical treasures. This is your opportunity to develop and improve oral and written Spanish language skills and experience cultural immersion while visiting cathedrals and museums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Instituto Cervantes, you\u2019ll take classes Monday \u2013 Friday and complete 2 courses (6 total hours) of undergraduate credit towards your elective and\/or language requirements (SPAN 101\/102\/201\/202\/302\/305\/450). This program takes you to the heart of Argentina\u2019s vibrant economy, exploring the cultural and business landscapes of 2 iconic cities: Buenos Aires and Mendoza to see how businesses market themselves on a global scale. Buenos Aires highlights include a historical city tour, a traditional Estancia experience, and a visit to the Evita Museum. Mendoza highlights include a winery business tour, presentations at Universidad de Congreso, and exploring cattle ranching and olive oil business initiatives. In addition, there is an optional 2-day excursion to Patagonia depending on student interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer in South Korea <\/summary>

Korea University International Summer Campus in Seoul is an academic program specially designed for international students who wish to explore their summer through both academic and cultural learning. Various cultural activities are also available, including a tour of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and various museums, as well as visits to broadcasting stations and shows, and sports events. *The DMZ tour is mandatory for students from The Citadel.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take up to 3 courses (9 credit hours) taught by renowned scholars from top universities around the world. Various courses in Business, Humanities & Korean Studies, Social Sciences, Science & Engineering, and Korean Language are offered.<\/em><\/strong> The estimated cost below includes tuition for 2 courses (6 credits), dormitory lodging for 4 weeks, and health insurance. 3 courses and\/or 6 weeks of lodging are available at additional costs. Studying Complex Environmental Issues in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (Earth Science and Education)<\/summary>
\n

This immersive field course takes you to the heart of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, exploring environmental conflicts across West Yellowstone, ID; Gardiner, MT; Bozeman, MT; and Cody, WY. Students will spend time inside Yellowstone National Park with expert wildlife guides and meet with scientists, land managers, ranchers, conservation groups, and community leaders to examine issues such as wolf management, brucellosis transmission between bison and cattle, invasive species, and the effects of a changing climate. Participants will then apply lessons learned in the field to a South Carolina environmental conflict, connecting national and local perspectives on science, policy, and sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Depending on your strand, this course could address EART 201 Introduction to Earth Science (4 credits) and\/or EDUC 409 Special Topics (3) for Education majors, while also providing opportunities for non-Education majors as NTSS 302 Environmental Science (3). Blue Zones: Mental Health and Wellness Related to Blue Zones in Sardinia, Italy (Psychology)<\/summary>

Students will travel to Italy to study the psychological applications of Blue Zone principles and understand the impact of Blue Zones on mental, physical, and spiritual wellness. While engaging with locals, students will develop a plan to incorporate Blue Zones into their clinical practice. In addition to visiting Rome, archeological sites, natural springs, students will have the opportunity to participate in hiking, yoga, and meditation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students will earn 3 credit hours (PSYC 463 \u2013 undergrads or PSYC 555 – graduate) towards their Psychology Major or elective credit depending on your transcript needs. The program includes tuition, housing, insurance, and excursions (airfare is not included).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Madrid is Spain\u2019s largest city and is known as the \u201cGolden Triangle of Art\u201d with world class art museums. Alcala de Henares is a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its rich history and cultural heritage, as well as being the birthplace of Cervantes. This is your opportunity to develop and improve oral and written Spanish language skills and experience cultural immersion while visiting cathedrals, museums, and archaeological landmarks. Students will take classes from 9 \u2013 1:30 Monday through Friday at Alcalingua Universidad, leaving the afternoons open for excursions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rouen, Normandy, WW2, Medieval France, Amazing French Cuisine!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rouen is one of France\u2019s most historic and vibrant cities<\/strong>, known for its breathtaking Gothic cathedral, medieval half-timbered houses, and rich artistic and historical heritage. As the historic capital of Normandy, Rouen is closely associated with Joan of Arc – where she was burnt at the stake. It also famously inspired Claude Monet\u2019s cathedral series. Located just 1.5 hours from Paris<\/strong>, Rouen offers the perfect balance between regional immersion and easy access to the French capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program is your opportunity to develop and strengthen oral and written French skills through full cultural immersion. Students take French language classes in the morning<\/strong>, leaving afternoons and weekends free for exploration, excursions, and authentic interaction with local life. Make Normandy your classroom<\/strong> as you explore historic neighborhoods  and iconic sites such as the Mont Saint-Michel<\/strong>, gaining firsthand insight into French history, culture, and memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

7 Churches of Revelation – Study Abroad in Turkey (English)<\/summary>

Cadets will start in Istanbul and travel to the location of the ancient cities mentioned in Revelation, ending in Ephesus. Students will have a better understanding of the text being studied (The Book of Revelation) and be culturally immersed in the actual cultural context the letter was written to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earn 3 credit hours – ENGL 208 \u2013 Special Topics in Humanities: 7 Churches of Revelation. This program includes airfare, tuition, housing, meals, insurance, and excursions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This program is tailored for students seeking immersive experiences in Chinese language and cultural studies. Over one month, participants have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a Chinese-speaking environment, engaging in activities that improve communication skills and foster a deeper understanding of the Chinese language and Asian culture. The students will skillfully use the Pinyin system with correct pronunciation and writing. The students will recognize and write Chinese characters and learn computer typing in Chinese. Moreover, students can engage in enterprise visits and cultural field trips through the term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earn 6 credit hours and complete 2 Chinese courses towards your elective and\/or language requirements. The program includes tuition, housing, some meals, books, weekly cultural activities, and insurance (airfare is not included).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
