A Note on Spring 2022 Study Abroad:
Dear Citadel Community,
The Citadel recognizes the invaluable role study abroad has on your academic experience as well as developing principled leaders. Through much deliberation and an in-depth evaluation of our experience running programs fall 2021, The Citadel leadership has decided to suspend spring 2022 Study Abroad.
Covid-19 continues to evolve globally, and the associated impacts of the pandemic has limited The Citadel’s capacity to effectively execute a comprehensive study abroad experience. It remains difficult to manage the uncertainty of these associated impacts such as short notice changes to programming, personal financial impacts, program cancellations, adjustments to dates, visa challenges, implementing precautionary measures, program disruptions, Covid testing, and quarantine processes abroad. Additionally, due to evolving restrictions it remains challenging to get certainty of access to our locations abroad.
The situation remains fluid worldwide and although this decision is disappointing, The Citadel remains committed to providing quality study abroad experiences. The Citadel is moving forward with summer 2022 study abroad programs as well as fall 2022 semester programs. For questions regarding these programs please contact the Center for International and Special Programs at studyabroad@citadel.edu.
I want to thank everyone for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate the best way forward with our study abroad programs. As always, please don’t hesitate to contact our office with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Dr. Zane Segle
Executive Director, Center for International and Special Programs
