Eligibility and Guidelines for Inurnment at the Memorial Bell Tower Columbarium<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Only the following individuals are eligible for inurnment in the Columbarium:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • Graduates of The Citadel<\/strong>: Individuals who have graduated from The Citadel, along with their designated family members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Enrolled Students<\/strong>: Students who are enrolled at The Citadel and die before graduation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Former Students on Active Duty<\/strong>: Former students who did not graduate but were called to active duty and died while on active duty.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Long-serving Faculty or Staff<\/strong>: Faculty or staff members who have completed twenty-eight (28) years of service at The Citadel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Reserving a Columbarium Niche<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Eligible individuals or their families may reserve a niche by payment of the designated fees and the execution of required documents at the time of purchase.  The honoree or the family of the honoree can stipulate the use of the second niche at the time of purchase.  The right to use the niches may not be sold, assigned or transferred in any way. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Niche Plates and Selection<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Each niche will be covered with a suitable plate, uniform in size, which shall be engraved with the name, dates of birth and death.  Honorees or their families will have the option of selecting a niche at the time of purchase.  Otherwise, niches will be assigned by the college.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

    Contracting and Policy Development<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    The Chaplain to Corps of Cadets and Director of Religious Activities shall be responsible for contracting with individuals who desire to be inurned in the Memorial Bell Tower Columbarium or the representative of individuals eligible for inurnment in the Memorial Bell Tower Columbarium.  The Chaplain to Corps of Cadets and Director of Religious Activities shall develop such contracts and additional policies as shall be necessary to implement this Memorandum. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
