The review checks learner support, assessment, interaction, technical support, and accessibility. It is a faculty-centered process that respects academic freedom and supports continual improvement of online courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-what-we-can-help-with\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What We Can Help With<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Prepare your course before you submit it<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use CEITL\u2019s online course review checklist, adapted from the Quality Matters Higher Education Rubric<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Revise standards rated Developing so you can resubmit<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Request an Expedited Review for a Fully Approved course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-how-it-works\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">How It Works<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Who must submit:<\/strong> All courses taught online require a review unless the course is already Fully Approved. This includes courses with multiple instructors and co-teachers. If you are teaching a Fully Approved course that another instructor taught and you have not changed any content, you may request an Expedited Review. Instructors who do not submit an online course for review will not be allowed to teach it online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>When:<\/strong> Building an online course can take three to six months. The review of a new online course begins at least one semester before the course is offered, and courses under review are due 6 weeks before the start of instruction (see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citadel.edu\/ceitl\/distance-learning-handbook\/\">Distance Learning Handbook<\/a>, DLP I.C.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>How to submit:<\/strong> You are added to an online course review in Canvas, and you submit your course for review there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is reviewed:<\/strong> The review assesses evidence that the course meets The Citadel\u2019s Credit Hour Policy and internal standards based on QM Standards. Reviews are completed by Citadel faculty and staff who have completed Quality Matters\u2019 Applying the QM Rubric (APPQMR) training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Review results:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>In progress:<\/strong> The course has been submitted and is waiting for review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Conditional:<\/strong> One or more standards were rated Developing. Revise those standards and resubmit for full approval before teaching the course online again. Conditional approval expires after one year, after which a full new submission is required.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fully Approved:<\/strong> All standards were rated Met. Approval lasts five years from the semester of review unless significant changes are made.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who Reviews Your Course<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Each course is reviewed by two people from the CEITL staff and CEITL\u2019s Faculty Fellows in Residence.
