The Citadel has been designated as National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) since 2016. The B.S. in Cyber Operations meets the academic standards of Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Operations program set by National Security Agency. This major is a deeply technical and interdisciplinary program grounded in computer science, computer engineering, cyber offense and defense, cyber forensics, and cyber law, policy and ethics. There are extensive opportunities for hands-on applications via labs and exercises. The major is housed in the Department of Cyber and Computer Sciences.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-program-objectives\">Program Objectives<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Graduates of Bachelor of Science in Cyber Operations will be able to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Apply security principles and practices to the design and implementation of the physical, software and human component of the cyber systems,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyze and evaluate cyber systems with respect to security,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify, analyze and mitigate threats in the cyber systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-plan-of-study\">Plan of Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The course of study leading to the B.S. with a major in Cyber Operations includes the following components:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Electives:<\/strong> 12 hours of electives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Core Mathematics and Statistics:<\/strong> 17 hours, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>MATH 131: Analytical Geometry and Calculus I<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MATH 132: Analytical Geometry and Calculus II<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MATH 206: Discrete Structures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MATH 302: Applied Cryptography<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>STAT 261: Probability and Statistics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Required Courses in Computer Science and Cyber Operations:<\/strong> 52 hours, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CSCI 201: Introduction to Computer Science I<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 202: Introduction to Computer Science II<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 211: Intro to Computer Science I Lab<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 223: Data Structures and Algorithms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 227: Principles and Practices of Cybersecurity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 305: Computer Organization and Programming<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 317: Computer Networks and Internets<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 320: Database Design<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 327: Computer Security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 405: Operating Systems<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 408: Software Security<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 409: Malware Analysis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 410: Offensive Cyber Operations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 411: Cyber Forensics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 427: Advanced Cybersecurity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ELEC 311: Digital Logic and Circuits<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ELEC 330: Digital Systems Engineering<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One of CSCI 421 or CSCI 499: Capstone<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Approved Cyber Elective:<\/strong> 3 hours selected from:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>CRMJ 331: Cyber Crime<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CRMJ 392: Cyber Security and Risk Management<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CSCI 490: Independent Study<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, General Education requirements for a selected strand, physical education, modern language, and laboratory sciences must be completed.
