This program provides scholarships for up to 2 years of support for cybersecurity undergraduate education. The scholarships are funded through grants awarded by the <strong>National Science Foundation<\/strong>. In return for their scholarships, recipients must agree to work after graduation for the U.S. Government, in a position related to cybersecurity, for a period equal to the length of the scholarship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Citadel&#8217;s SFS cohorts feature students from Computer Science, Intelligence and Security Studies, and Criminal Justice. When combined with the Minor in Cybersecurity, these academic paths lead to jobs in a variety of Federal agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/web.citadel.edu\/root\/images\/CCS\/academic-paths-to-jobs.png\" alt=\"academic paths to jobs\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scholarship-benefits\">Scholarship Benefits<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Full tuition scholarship for junior and senior years<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual stipend (for living expenses): $27,000 per year<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Professional allowance of up to $6,000 per academic year for SFS Job Fair and other travel, books, professional certifications, etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Special mentorship and cohort-related extracurricular activities to acquaint the student with cyber opportunities and make them more competitive for post-graduation jobs<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Currently a sophomore with two years remaining until graduation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Major in Computer Science, Cyber Operations, Intelligence and Security Studies, or Criminal Justice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minor in Cybersecurity (prerequisite courses may be required)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cannot have an accepted ROTC contract or military obligations after graduation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum GPA of 3.20<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Program Participation Requirements<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Work in an executive government agency post-graduation for the number of years of the scholarship award.&nbsp;A list of the Federal Executive Agencies is located&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usa.gov\/branches-of-government#item-214500\">here<\/a>&nbsp;under Executive Branch Agencies, Commissions, and Committees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Complete one summer internship for at least 10 weeks, typically paid, with a government organization (Federal, State, Local, or Tribal) during the scholarship period.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in the annual CyberCorps\u00ae Scholarship for Service Job Fair, where SFS recipients meet government recruiters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participate in research and professional-development events and activities, for example, research project, career preparation activities or seminars.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applicant Preferences<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Have a strong interest in working for an executive government organization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hold security clearance or capability of obtaining security clearance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Actively involved in cybersecurity student organizations, competitions, research or other activities.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Selection Process<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The selection process will include an essay prepared by the student, an interview, and an assessment of the student\u2019s performance to date and financial need.
