As one of the main pillars of Catholicism, Sacred Scripture plays a pivotal role in the celebration of the Holy Mass. Portions from the Old and New Testaments are introduced in every Sunday gathering, and it is the responsibility of the lector to proclaim these readings for all to hear. In addition, lectors may also lead the Prayers of the Faithful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To become a lector, a cadet and must have a strong desire to minister the word and have a strong commitment to the Catholic Church. A lector must be a practicing Catholic, wishing to proclaim Sacred Scripture as truly the Word of God.
