Her current research interest is exploring histone proteins in the mitochondria (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/20597863\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link to\u00a0abstract on PubMed<\/a>;\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/10.1042\/CBI20090281\/pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link to full PDF<\/a><\/strong>).\u00a0 She has also developed a hypothesis for a cure for HIV infection (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/19138822\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link to publication<\/a><\/strong>). Dr. Zanin is active in promoting stronger pre-college education in the STEM fields and is regular participant and presenter for activities sponsored by the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bioone.org\/doi\/abs\/10.1525\/abt.2015.77.6.463\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link to publication<\/a>\u00a01,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.asee.org\/public\/conferences\/140\/papers\/25681\/view\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link to publication 2<\/a><\/strong>). She was the 2009 recipient of The Citadel\u2019s Clinton A.
