Sergeant Major Phillip D. Schrimsher arrived as the Chief Military Science Instructor at the Palmetto Battalion in May of 2026. A native of Huntsville, Alabama, he enlisted as a 13F (Fire Support Specialist) in June 2001 and attended Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SGM Schrimsher has held numerous duty positions and assignments to include: Forward Observer, COLT Team Chief, Company Team Chief, Battalion Targeting NCO and Battalion Fire Support NCO with 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, KY; Brigade Fire Support NCO and Brigade Operations Sergeant with 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, GA; Advanced Individual Training Platoon Sergeant with 428th Field Artillery Brigade at Fort Sill, OK; First Sergeant with 1st Stryker Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Wainwright, AK; Senior Military Science Instructor at the University of Texas A&M; Division Operations NCO at Camp Humphreys, Korea; and Command Sergeant Major at 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment in Joint Base Lewis McChord. SGM Schrimsher has completed six combat tours. Three in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, two in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, and one in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SGM Schrimsher\u2019s military education includes the Pre-Command Course, Sergeants Major Academy, Senior Leader\u2019s course, Advanced Leader\u2019s course, Basic Leader\u2019s course, AIT Platoon Sergeant school, Master Resiliency Trainer course, Joint Fires Observer course, Collateral Damage Estimation course, Joint Firepower course, Pathfinder school, Air Assault school, Army Space Cadre Course phases I and II, Combat Lifesaver course, and Combatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with \u201cV\u201d device, Army Commendation Medal with \u201cC\u201d device, Army Achievement Medal, Valorous Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Award, Army Superior Unit Award, the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Operation Inherent Resolve Campaign medal, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Action badge, Pathfinder badge, Air Assault badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency badge. He is also a recipient of the Order of Saint Barbara and Order of Saint George.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SGM Schrimsher has been married to the former Lauren Gray Sanford since 2002 and they have one daughter together, Madison.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
