Sergeant Major Tywayne Richardson originally hails from Louisville, Ky. He initially entered the United States Army in 1995 and attended one station unit training as a 13B Cannon Crewmember at Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
He has served in every position of an Artillerymen. These positions include Cannoneer #1, Gunner, Ammunition Team Chief, Howitzer Section Chief, Gunnery Sergeant and Platoon Sergeant. As a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer he served as a Firing Battery First Sergeant, Headquarters and Headquarters Battery First Sergeant, and Battalion Operations Sergeant, and DIVARTY Operations Sergeant Major. Over the years he also has served in a variety of special duty assignments such as Drill Sergeant, Division Military Transition Team NCOIC, Military Science Instructor, USASMA Distance Education Instructor, Multi-Domain Effects Senior Enlisted Advisor. He is currently serving as The Field Artillery Chief Military Science Instructor for The Citadel.
SGM Richardson stateside assignments include Fort Hood, Texas, Ft Sill Oklahoma, Houghton, Michigan (USA), Fort Riley, Kansas, Fort Bliss, Texas, and Charleston, South Carolina (USA) . Some of his overseas assignments are Camp Hovey, Korea, Baghdad, Iraq (twice), Kuwait/Iraq region (twice).
SGM Richardson attended the Basic Leader Course at Fort Hood, Texas. He attended both Advanced and Senior Leaders courses at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He also completed the US Army Drill Sergeant course at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. As a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer he attended the company commander and first sergeant course at Fort Riley, Kansas (2013) and also at Fort Hood, Texas (2015). He is a graduate of the Sergeant Major Course at Ft. Bliss, Texas Class 69, and also earned the Basic Army Instructor Badge while serving as a Distance Learning Instructor for USASMA. He obtained his Masters Degree from The University of Texas at El Paso, and also earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Excelsior College.
SGM Richardson’s’ awards include Bronze Star (1), Defense Meritorious Service Medal (1), Meritorious Service Medal (5), Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal (9), Iraq Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on Terrorism Expeditiary Medal with two campaign stars, U.S. Army Drill Sergeant Badge, Combat Action Badge, and Basic Army Instructor Badge. He was also awarded the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara of the Field Artillery.
SGM Richardson is married to the former Christina Alexander of Copperas Cove, Texas. They have a two year old son Marcellus Richardson.
