Dr. Chad Hershock is the Executive Director of the Eberly Center for Teaching Excellence & Educational Innovation at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, where he leads the Generative Artificial Intelligence Teaching as Research (GAITAR) Initiative<\/em>. Chad holds a Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Michigan and has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning and Educational Development. His teaching experience includes courses in ecology and STEM education at both Carnegie Mellon University and University of Michigan.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Harvard Business School, in collaboration with the Kennedy School of Government, recently organized a workshop focused on the integration of artificial intelligence within higher education. The event was attended by approximately eighty-five faculty members from around the world, including four representatives from The Citadel School of Business who will present their key takeaways at the forthcoming BSB AI roundtable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The session will address practical applications of AI in educational settings, such as the development of instructional materials, implementation of chatbots for student inquiries, infographic generation from video content, and creation of educational games and simulators. Participants will gain actionable strategies and resources to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes through AI. The roundtable is designed to provide educators with innovative techniques and illustrative examples to elevate both classroom experiences and academic results.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This research agenda examines how generative AI reshapes judgment, trust, and accountability in institutions whose legitimacy depends on evaluating and certifying human reasoning\u2014particularly auditing, higher education, and professional accounting education. Framed through a socio-technical systems lens, the work investigates how AI introduces epistemic opacity into contexts that historically require epistemic transparency. Across three integrated research streams\u2014AI in auditing and assurance, AI in higher education assessment and governance, and AI-enabled Excel-based accounting pedagogy\u2014the research highlights professional and academic judgment as the indispensable core. The agenda advances conceptual frameworks, empirical questions, and applied artifacts that emphasize human-centered AI design, demonstrating that institutional resilience in an AI-enabled world is not a function of automation, but of how judgment is protected, enabled, institutionalized, and legitimized through intentional design.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
