Captain David M. Melton serves as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and Recruiting Officer at Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 765 at The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. Captain Melton instructs the freshmen class curriculum, teaching cadets new to the program Air Force History and fundamental leadership principals. He is the primary point of contact for interested candidates.
Captain Melton attended The Citadel, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice in 2014. He earned his commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 765.
Captain Melton began his career at Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota where he served as a Flight Commander, Officer in Charge (OIC) of Supply and Logistics, and Convoy Commander for the 5th Security Forces Squadron. Prior to his current position, Captain Melton served two and a half years at Buckley Air Force Base, Colorado. During his tenure as the Operations Officer for the 460th Security Forces Squadron he served as the uniformed officer responsible for executing Security Operations, Security Forces training, Counter Unmanned Ariel Systems and Military Working Dog operations for 460th Space Wing and the tenant units attached to the installation, to include detachments of the Aerospace Data Facility, and various foreign coalition forces.
