The 1842 Scholars Program at The Citadel is an honors academic cohort that has significantly benefited me throughout my time as a student and leader. I want to highlight three main ways this program has positively impacted me since I joined as a freshman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Leadership Opportunities: Last year, I ran for President but did not get the position. However, when the previous president went to study abroad, I was asked to step into the role. I gladly took the opportunity, and this position carried over to this year. It was a great way to get started before taking over for the entire academic year.
2. Adjusting to College: The 1842 Scholars Program provided me with a smaller cohort of peers, which helped me adjust to college life. Seeing familiar faces around campus gave me a sense of comfort and community. I encourage you to get to know as many fellow scholars as possible.
3. Club Projects: The projects we do throughout the year have allowed me to make a difference at The Citadel. In my freshman year, we worked on a project to increase the CSI number. In my sophomore year, we focused on attracting more female students, students from Title IX schools, and creating a more diverse student body. These projects enable us to impact future cadets’ lives and make a difference in the institution’s future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 1842 Scholars Program has provided me with invaluable leadership opportunities, a supportive community, and meaningful projects that make a difference.
