Creative Nonfiction: Crafting Short Memoir

Course Instructors

Amy Hudock, Ph. D., a single mother, teaches English at Pinewood Preparatory School.  She is a co-founder and Editor-in-Chief of LiteraryMama.com, an on-line literary magazine chosen by Writer’s Digest as one of the 100 Best Web Sites for Writers (2005) and by Forbes as one of their 100 Best of the Web (2005). She is also the co-editor of books Literary Mama: Reading for the Maternally Inclined (Seal Press, Jan. 2006) and of American Women Prose Writers, 1820-1870 (Gale, 2001).  Her short memoir pieces have appeared or will appear in the anthologies Single State of the Union (Seal 2007), Mama, Ph. D. (forthcoming Rutgers), Cup of Comfort for Single Mothers (forthcoming, Adams), My Mom is My Hero (forthcoming, Adams), and My Dad is My Hero (forthcoming, Adams) and in the magazines Skirt!, ePregnancy, Pregnancy and Baby, Philosophical Mother.  She writes regularly for Literarymama.com.  She was awarded the $500 Cuppa Prize for the best essay in the Cup of Comfort for Single Mothers volume. 

Mary Alice Satterfield, M. Ed., is a teacher at Trident Academy where she has spent 19 of her 29 years as a K-12 educator. She teaches Music, English, and High School Writers’ Workshop. Since 2006, she has been acknowledged as a Master Teacher by the South Carolina Independent School Association..
