Charleston County Awards $3.5 Million Grant to Johnson Hagood Stadium
(23 MAY) (View Article) The Charleston County Council has approved a grant to The Citadel to provide $3.5 million over ten years from the county accommodations tax revenue. This contribution will help retire a portion of The Citadel’s debt on the $42 million Johnson Hagood Stadium renovation, a project that is anticipated to have a significant economic and tax benefit for the county.

Raytheon Establishes Scholars Program with $500,000 Gift

This endowed fund will provide engineering, science, and mathematics scholarships for female and minority students at The Citadel.

Citadel BOV Renames Practice Field to Honor Maybank Triplets, '65
(04 OCT '07) (View Article) On Friday, October 5, a ceremony was held at the existing Willson Field to dedicate the newly installed artificial-turf practice field, now known as the Maybank Triplets Football Practice Field at Willson Field Complex. Lt. Gen. John Rosa, 19th President of The Citadel, and Tommy Maybank spoke at the ceremony, and Coach Kevin Higgins led two of his football players, Cadets Duran Lawson and Josh Lawson, in a special presentation to the Maybank family.

Cadet Callers "Bowl for Dollars" to Support The Citadel

Charlie Cole Receives Prestigious SC "Order of the Palmetto" Award

Citadel Foundation Scholar Douglas Schmid Named Truman Scholar
(18 APR '06) (View Article) Junior Citadel Cadet Douglas Schmid is one of 75 college juniors nationwide to receive a $30,000 fellowship for graduate study as a Truman Scholar. Schmid, a political science major with a concentration in international affairs, has a 3.9 GPA and has recently been named the 2006-2007 Charlie Company commander. He attends The Citadel on a four-year, full-tuition Citadel Foundation Scholarship.
